Paid Parental Leave

Employers are required to provide eligible employees with parental leave, under a government scheme that effectively pays the employees through Services Australia at the minimum wage for up to 20 weeks. Dad and Partner leave is also covered under these provisions.

Employers are required to register with Services Australia when advised by Services Australia that an employee is eligible for paid parental leave. Note that eligibility for the leave is determined by Services Australia, not by the employer.
